Dollar hoard hits market

Marketing of a hoard of 100,000 silver dollars that formerly belonged to Las Vegas Horseshoe Casino owner Ted Binion has begun by Goldline International, Inc., of Santa Monica, Calif.

The firm, which is one of the A-Mark Companies, bought the hoard for $3 million and has had the silver dollars slabbed by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation of Sarasota, Fla.  A special green NGC pedigree label has been created for them.

     Among the coins offered for sale are 1883-O pieces priced at $42 in MS-63, $50 in MS-64, $110 in MS-65 and $300 in MS-66.  1885-P coins are priced at $43 in MS-63, $52 in MS-64, $110 in MS-65 and $300 in MS-66.

A special green pedigree label was created by NGC.

In the MS-67 grade, an 1887-P is offered for $2,500, an 1886-P at $1,250 and an 1885-P at $2,150.

Other dates in the approximately 15 that will be available include 1878-P, 1885-O and 1888-P in the Morgan series and 1922-P and 1923-P Peace dollars.

Mark Salzberg, NGC president, said, "This is the greatest collection of silver dollars that NGC has ever authenticated."
